We ready to kick off the annual Tour de Woodbridge – a 30-plus mile bike tour that takes riders throughout the township. This will be the 12th year of the tour. “We want to get people from Woodbridge and the surrounding communities to get out and be active,” said Jeff Marmelstein, director of the Tour de Woodbridge. “We’re letting people see that you can bike around Woodbridge.” Marmelstein, an avid cyclist himself, organized and participates in the 30 mile ride that passes through Woodbridge proper, Avenel, Colonia, Fords, and the Sewaren sections of Woodbridge Township. Wegman’s provided water at three rest stops at township parks, as well as breakfast for the cyclists at the Woodbridge Community Center following the race. In addition to the 30 mile trek, the Tour de Woodbridge will have a shorter course, which will be approximately 16 miles. “We just want to get people moving, that’s how you get that healthy lifestyle,” noted Marmelstein. -Woodbridge Patch 2012 A portion of the registration paid by the cyclists will be donated to Boy Scouts of America.
